About event

  • Event place: Muzeum Miejskie w Tychach | pl. Wolności 1

We will start our journey into the world of Stanisław Mazuś's ideas here and now - a fully formed characteristic style, imbued with an extraordinary sensitivity to the surrounding world. It is reflected in still lifes, which are often references to the condition of modern man, and landscapes in which nature definitely dominates the traces of human existence. The artist himself often enters the space of the composition, but he does it in an extremely subtle way, which underlines his fidelity and devotion to nature. Then we will penetrate the "museum" space - landscapes dominate here - mainly Tychy and related to Tychy - created, among others on special orders of the city authorities and during open-air workshops. Finally, we come to the chapter closed long ago by the artist, but extremely interesting - into the world of workshop graphics. The works created in the years 1966–1970 describe reality both literally and symbolically, referring to the socio-political realities, which is particularly visible in the apocalyptic compositions from the "Kara" series.

Stanisław Mazuś was born on November 7, 1940 in Lublin. In the years 1961–1967 he studied at the Faculty of Painting and Graphics of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1968 he moved to Tychy. He dealt with workshop graphics, applied graphics and painting, which has been and still is the most important trend in his work. He was an active member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers and the Association of Polish Painters and Graphic Artists. Involved in social activities for the creative environment and the broadly understood promotion of art. He initiated and co-created numerous artistic events and plein-airs, incl. "Impressions Mikołowskie" and "Beskidzkie Integration of Art". He is a laureate of many awards and distinctions. He was awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis (2014) and the Golden Badge of Honor for Merits for the Silesian Voivodeship (2019).
