Winning a Grammy for both classical music and rock recordings - that's an art! Bryce Dessner first gained popularity as the guitarist of the excellent American group The National, but he has greater ambitions and possibilities. He collaborated, among others with Paul Simon, Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens, but also with Philip Glass and Steve Reich. Who knows if the last two are not to be seen at work, because although Dessner's artistic interests are not limited to minimalism (he is equally eager to look for inspiration in, for example, Baroque music), it is hard not to see him as one of the most important heirs of American masters. Reich himself calls his younger colleague "an important composer with advanced technique and an intense emotional voice". In the program of the concert we will hear two compositions for electric guitar and string quartet: "Quintets" and "40 Canons" commissioned from Dessner by the Kronos Quartet.
